Top 10 reasons Bulldozer will be successfull:

1-) AMD is working on this architecture fore over 5years
2-) It is the biggest investment of AMD all time hence it should not fail
3-) JF confirmed that core2core performance is better than thuban and there
are more cores on BD
4-) JF also stated that Interlagos will offer over %50 jump over the previous
generation so we can assume desktop version will do similar
5-) AMF is using FX brand after many yearswhich was used for the top performance processor at its time (FX55-57) so we can assume that BD is a top contender in the cpu business
6-) There are many high end boards for FX processors out there
7-) NVIDIA SLI enabled in 990x boards
8-) FX8xxx is positioned against Sandybridge on the performance chart
by AMD hence given its record of price/performance FX processors will walk
away being winner of the competition
9-) BD has two strong threads and AMD states that it is better than HT
10-) AMD has the worlds fastest graphics card (6990) why not fastest
processor?

Development time means nothing with regards to the quality of a product. Might I point you to DNF, which by your reasoning should be the best game ever?

Where did you hear that it's AMD's biggest investment? I don't have the bulldozer numbers on hand (I can't imagine anyone does), but I'd imagine that
AMD's acquisition of ATI ($5.4 billion) is larger.

Furthermore, who's to say an investment will succeed simply because it's big? Ask anyone who has gone into stocks that crash and burn.

An increase in performance per core is more or less a given. We don't know by how much though, and that amount can make or break Bulldozer's performance.

EDIT: JF never actually stated this, though I feel that assuming an increase of performance per core is reasonable.

That's throughput for server processors with 33% more cores, not simply a 50% increase in speed.

Marketing means nothing as far as a product itself is concerned. May I point you to New Coke?

The product will be supported. That isn't any more revolutionary than there being high-end boards for Sandy Bridge

Their price/performance reputation is mainly, as I unnderstand it, achieved from lowering the prices on their CPUs because they don't currently have the raw power as Intel CPUs. This doesn't mean that they will suddenly become competitive with higher priced chips. It seems that that's what they're aiming for, but price itself doesn't inherently mean anything.

As JF more or less said it a while ago, comparing a bulldozer module to a hyper-threaded core is pointless. What ultimately matters is the performance, and that will not come from uninformed speculation.

CPUs and GPUs have vastly different architectures. Using the similar reasoning, Intel should be able to make the best integrated GPUs because they have make the best CPUs.

I think you've just gotten too hyped up with the marketing. When Bulldozer comes out, I hope it's competitive, but I'm not going to get myself hyped up.

It's $200 but has a $20 off promo untill the 19th.

$180.

ah I see css beat me, Anyway, while on topic my 1100t does over 7 on cpu score on cinebench, That's at 4ghz tho. I wonder what a i5 2500k does at 4ghz, same test?

#4: JF-AMD confirmed that the 50% more is in throughput ... not performance ...

the rest seems like a good speculation ....

exactly ... and i think .. but not sure on this that JF-AMD explained it due to the higher speed imc and other tweaks on the bulldozer imc ....

Ouch.

I see that your signature says that although you work for AMD, your opinions are your own.

I doubt you can answer this, but...

In your opinion, do you think Bulldozer will compete with Sandy Bridge on an instructions-per-clock basis?
