JF-AMD said something like this a while ago. "We can make a CPU that will beat the highest end Intel,but you couldn't afford it."
However IMO,I think it'll be close to SB IPC if AMD intends to be truly competitive again.

I certainly would be willing to pay more for Bulldozer if it did more than this thread seems to say it will do (or better yet not do).Myself I want to see some hot rod performance from AMD. We have our workhorse Phenoms, now let's have us a race car.

I see great purpose in this thread, a user took his time to compile data and find out something about what the FX-Series CPU needs to do to succeed the previous generation. However, the only other real purpose to this thread - which is to ask JF-AMD or other AMD staff a question about their long-term goals - has been addressed already. Therefore to prevent any further issues, I'm closing this thread.
