[Adriasang] Final Fantasy XIII Easy mode - Page 6

Final Fantasy 12's Gambit system was good because it gave complete freedom on how you want your party member's AI to behave...

#13's on the other hand.......................... all replaced by x.

And now they are making an easy mode patch?

What's with all the FFXIII hate? I really enjoyed that game. I love linear RPG's with lots of cutscenes. That's why I also really liked Lost Odyssey. Both were extremely fun jRPG's for the Xbox 360.

As for "Easy Mode", I don't think it is necessary. Sure, a couple times you might die once or twice on a boss before you get the hang of it (or Eidolon's, those take me 1-2 tries) but I don't think you need to play on an easier difficulty. The only boss I really had trouble with is the Havoc Skytank though. It took me a while to figure out if you don't use a Librascope on him, it will take you like 5 hours to kill him since he is immune to all physical attacks. Once you use a Librascope and clear out the turrets he is pretty easy though, and takes like 10 minutes. Wish I knew that the first couple of times .

It completely betrayed the lineage of the series. That is the reason for all the FFXIII hate. Especially when the game was followed up with comments from the developers such as "we didn't put proper towns in because it takes too much time to design them in HD".

That's the reason games such as FFXIII Versus are taking so long to be released. SE have a serious issue with their programming ability which is also evident from FFXIV (which I play). They have absolutely no idea how to do basic memory management which leads to such comments that making full towns to explore is "too much effort" or "too difficult to implement".

"what's with all the FFXIII hate?", simple answer, it sucks when compared with the rest of the series. Nuff said.

I guess its our ego and pride talking when we say "if we can do it they can" i agree that a game should be played on hard for full experience but some people like their entertainment just to be that, an entertainment!

While I do think that easy mode is stupid, some of the boss battles in the damn game were preposterously difficult and/or length wise.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is taking so long because since it's reveal in 2006 the game has constantly been put on the backburner for Tetsuya Nomura's other projects.

They decided to move Final Fantasy XIII from the PS2 to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and then Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep from the PS2 to PSP. Nomura went on to finish Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts: coded since Versus was revealed. Later on, Versus XIII's staff were pulled to help finish XIII. Since XIII's release they've ramped up work on Versus, but they're also still finishing up Final Fantasy Type-0.

Square's biggest problem is resource management. They're competent programmers, but they've let Tetsuya Nomura go from battle animations in Final Fantasy V to practically handling every major project himself and it's just not working out for them.

I still haven't beaten it yet but I just recently bought it last year.
Naw we beat it before her. It just sat there and she started playing it. She randomly asked us one day if we can help her with the boss, and it was the last boss lol. I quit FF afterwards because I found it really did go down the hill, at least from the good ol' super nintendo days. That's just me being old though. I loved the graphics in all of the new ones, but it graphics aren't everything sadly.

My favorite FF is FFVII still though, and I like FFIV as well.

Have you experienced the horror that is FFXIV which uses the same game engine as XIII and Versus? It hasn't been delayed because of other projects. It's been delayed because they got such a bad backlash to FFXIII from hardcore fans because it was so damn linear and absence of a proper game world. That's something they have promised to implement in Versus to try to get people back on board, and as their programming is so incompetent, it's taking them forever to finish it all off. Even their president admitted last year that all their main franchise are suffering from "poor quality", so don't try to tell me they are competent. It takes them months just to change small things in FFXIV and they have admitted they have problems with how much memory their current graphics engine 'costs'. Trying to squeeze it all onto the glorious 512MB of RAM that PS3 has must be hell. Crystal tools suck.

Exactly. I remember having some serious difficulties with some Barthandalus fights, and the final boss made me want to be dead.

I agree with this entirely. I liked the difficulty. I enjoyed pulling my hair out over not being able to beat the game, but some, I'm sure, did not. This patch makes the game suit a larger audience, and if you don't want to play it on easy mode? Don't. I'd be happier with this if they added a hard mode as well, but so long as they don't just make their games easier all-around without a difficulty setting, who cares?

Edit: In regards to everyone stating which FF games were their favorite? FFXI was the peak for me, around 2005.
