FT02 and Air CPU coolers, hmm..

Thread Starter
So I'm going to be getting the FT02 for my build in the next week/2week period, and I came to the revelation that considering how the air flow works in that case, any AC on my CPU would be at least comparable to the H50/70, at least within 7-10c.

So my question is, what's a good push/pull system heatsink? I'd like it to be a bit less wide (sideways, so it pushes air up) so I can fit my stupid amount of Vengeance RAM in there.

This whole theory goes off of the fact that I need the 120mm fan at the top of the FT02 to exhaust, and therefore the H50/70 would be getting a LOT of hot air through it, not really effective. But an air cooler heatsink would be pretty close to the 180mm fans on the bottom, so they'd get a crap ton of cool air. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Hyper 212+, Frio, NH-d14 should also work

Always heard the NH-D14 had awful clearance issues with anything above stock heatsink RAM. Is that not true in an upwards pushing position instead of pushing the exhaust out the side?

I would suggest looking at the Megahalem or Venomous X, both are good for RAM clearance and top air cooling performance. Perhaps you might also want to look into the Archon as well. Btw, with D14 and Silver Arrow, you can always move the front fan to the back of the cooler and mount it there. That way you won't have any RAM clearance issues at all.

Looks like the Megahalem would work fine, but with the NH-D14 I still can't tell. I've always heard of the issues, but not a lot of people push the air up and out with it, so it's hard to tell just from the pictures. Would be my first choice otherwise.

Megahalem seems to be my best option.

The SA and D14 will work just as effectively oriented vertically. Countless people use this cooler for the RV02 and FT02. People have also said that the exhaust fan doesn't do too much in terms of reducing the system temperature because of the immense positive air pressure that the bottom 3 intake fans provide. Just a few more things you may want to consider for your choice of heatsinks.

Haha, JUST realized you have an FT02. Derp.

+rep for the help, I think I'm going to try the D14, return it if it doesn't clear my RAM. Seems like everyone's saying it'll "touch", but not interfere when mounted vertically.

If your ever going to base your descision on any thing just be sure to checkout here

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/10/21/corsair_a70_highperformance_cpu_cooler_review/3

The important part here i feel is apples to apples, this shows what does the best

My descision was based on size, and i went with Cogage. Just be sure to buy extra clip for extra fan and and get another fan as the one that comes with it is junk. But that is if you want things fully customizable, if you dont go the Megahalems or Venomous X

Vengeance will be a no go I think

I have low profile mushkin, d14, ft02, and p67.
