The reason I'm really considering an upgrade is because my friend needs a system NOW and he offered to buy mine which would give me an opportunity to upgrade. I might as well just take it now.

You could build be a cheap 2500k system(for around 800 and still a damn fast system). And save money for Sandy-E.

I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge myself.

The sandy bridge extreme and ivy bridge are different right? I'm currently at school so I can't really research a lot of this stuff, if someone could do a solid comparison between the ivy and SBe it would be a big help.

If I sell my rig for 1500-1700 I'll probably throw in another $300-$400.

If the SBe or Ivy will be superior in every way then I might aswell wait but I'm not 100% yet.

Thanks a lot guys.
i dont think your rig will sell for that much maybe a grand but not 1500 of 1700 just saying.

My rig only cost 1500 total , add 100 to get the 2600k and youre golden.

Your i7 860 will be fine for a long time, I wouldn't do any upgrading until 6 core processors for Intel are cheap.
I did use the search, the search came up with nothing (I was doing this through Tapatalk on my iPhone so I'm not sure if results vary if I use Tapatalk or Overclock.net but I did search).

If you have reasons, like that, why wait? You can get good money for your setup and buy the 2600K instead of waiting what, another 10 months at least? No way I could wait that long if i was itching to upgrade. Plus if you get the 2600K all indications are the board will be compatible with the IB chips released next year sometime.
