Is Battlefield 3 coming to Steam? - Page 2

so far none of my games on origin require it to be running to play. I simply click the shortcut and they start up, without origin running. Could be the same for them all, or just some.

I hope not. Steam always overcharge. This should slow them down.

Over-charge? Its usually the same price, if not cheaper than retail. Not to mention Steam sales are where its at...can usually buy games for more than 50% off.

steam sales are nothing. by the time i see a game on steam sale, it has been on sale at other online stores for a while, and usually better.

People who only use steam dont realize how much they get taken advantage of. Sure you can find great deals on there, but you can also overpay by a ton.

I remember when i bought alpha protocol, it was $40 on a steam, but only $15 at another online store because of their special. Good deals are everywhere, not just steam.

I'm more than willing to pay an extra $5-$10 for BF3 on Steam if it means I don't need to keep track of the CD's and get to keep all of my games in one client. Reformatting your computer? Download Steam, start downloads...go to bed. Ofcourse this is just my opinion.

Origin is just EA Download Manager rebranded, which has never required you to have the client running to play the game. It's like GoG, you only need to authenticate with the servers once when you first install, but after that you don't need to have the client running in the background. In other words, compared to Steam, you'll be in the game much quicker with Origin and less background processes using memory/CPU.

Personally I like EA Download Mananger, and I like Origin. The UI is sleek, and in my opinion better looking then Steam.

That said, EA excluding games to Origin is still silly. However, Origin does have good sales for games, for example Dragon Age 2 on sale right $39.99 compared to Steam's $59.99, and even better sales for much older EA titles.

My community resides within steam, and that trumps everything else for me.

lolwhat? You don't need any kind of authentication with GoG installers, they're DRM free, that's their main selling point. GoG has their new downloader application, but all it does is download the game for you. There's no authentication involved at all. Once you download the game installer you can install the game without even having an internet connection...
