Should I get a new case? Which one?

Hey everyone. I'm currently planning my next upgrade, due sometime this summer (late July/August). I currently have a Centurion 5 case. I was wondering...is this still considered a quality case? I was thinking about getting something like an Antec 900 but I'd obviously like to save the $100 or spend it elsewhere if my Centurion 5 is still fine.

I'm upgrading to an i5 2500k, 8GB (2x4gb) DDR3, and using my GTX460. I plan on upgrading the 460 to something like a 570 when BF3/Skyrim drop.

Any info is appreciated. If you know of any high quality cases for cheap post 'em! Thanks!

I wouldn't use the centurion for SLI even if it did fit. Ventilation would probably be the bigger issues. This is coming from a person who usually does silence > cooling lol. I just know SLI sounds like a lot more heat for a smaller case.

It really isn't a very good case. and the 570 is 2.25 inches longer.

460 - 8.25 inches (210 mm)
570 - 10.5 inches (267 mm)

I would recommend getting or cutting yourself a hole in the bottom and top for a fan on the bottom and top. I love how my HAF 932 has 4 120mm R4 fans blowing on motherboard and video cards. Even when I do over clok them they stay very cool.

I just remembered the additional noise that comes with SLI. Looks like I'll just go for a single 570 or something. Would the Centurion be fine for that?

Measure from PCI brackets to where the HD cage is. Also, don't forget the PCB might not be the full length as some cards have the PCI-E power facing the HD cage which adds length to the total card. My GTX 580 is 10.5" and has side panel facing power so it is only 10.5". My old 5870 was about the same length, but had power connectors at the end that made it nearly an inch longer by the time I could bend the power connectors.

Welp...

A case is a metal box. How can you "upgrade" it?

Basically if it fulfills its job by preventing dust and by protecting the computer's components, there is no need to change it.

No?!

Why?

Heat problem? Looks? Broken pieces?

You need to make sure you have room to have a 10.5" long graphics card in that case. Not many mid tower cases can fit a GTX570 or larger.

Also, if you go with a better case, don't go with an antec 900. There are many better options in that same price range that come with more modern features. The antec 900 has already been replaced in Antec's linup. I think the 902 is the replacement for it. There are also some Lian-Li Lancool cases that are nice and less then $100. You can also look at some of coolermaster's stuff. The HAF cases, CM 690 II, Storm and Scout, etc.

Aside from improved ventilation and newer features though, if your hadrware will fit inthe old case, you don't HAVE to upgrade. I ran my current i7 (minus watercooling) rig in a bargain basement XION Onyx case for a few months before I saved up for the HAF X I have now. The old case was louder, and much more cramped, but it held everything just fine.

Seems a bit anemic for what you're talking about doing. It's got 1x120mm and 1x80mm fans on it.

You don't necessarily want a 900 though. I've owned one in the past, it's not the friendliest case in the world. I've also build in a 902, it's a lot better to work with at least. I personally also liked building in the CM Storm Sniper, it's small, but very workable.

I'm sure a lower end HAF will work, I don't personally like the looks of them, especially on the inside, but that's personal.
