Secondly thank you for going through the trouble of making a build log/thread it was really helpful!
And lastly I was wondering if I could ask

a) how happy you are with the H60 (would you pick a different one in hindsight?)
b) how noisy is your CPU cooler
c) how noisy is your computer in general
d) does it produce alot of heat?

Thanks in advance, and just wanted to say I appreciate your rig/build thread as I thought it was quite helpful!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you found my log useful. Let me see about your questions:

a) I am very happy with my H60. It works well with my two aftermarket fans and saves a ton of space over a large aircooler. I definitely recommend if supreme overclocking is not your goal (works great for me at 4.8GHz but probably no higher).

b) You really cannot hear the H60 at all in my rig. The Gelid Silent 12 fans I'm running are absolutely silent unless you open the case side up.

c) I run the fan controller on the 600T wide open 24/7 and it is not at all loud. Audible, but not annoyingly so.

d) The two 580's at full OC get VERY hot and the 600T is only average as far as cooling goes. It hasn't been a problem for me but if ultimate cooling is your goal this is probably the wrong case for you.

To sum up, I love my rig. The look is exactly what I wanted and the performance is definitely good enough for me. If you are looking for the ultimate in cooling and overclocking though, its probably not the best setup for you....

I hope you don't mind if I ask more questions?

a) what exactly is the push/pull set up you are referring to? I gather that there are 2 fans but are they going in opposite directions?

b) so you opted to completely replace the stock exhaust case fan as well as the default/stock fan for the H60 for 2 gelid silent fans?

c) when going for 8 gb of memory you opted for 2x4gb. is there an advantage besides extra memory slots versus going 4x2gb memory?

No problem!

a) Push/pull simply means that one side of the radiator has a fan pulling air out of it and the other side has a fan pushing air into it. They both flow in the same direction, just on opposite sides of the radiator.

b) Yes. I have two Corsair 120mm fans now that are sitting in my old case waiting to be used for another build.

c) This I'm not entirely sure about. I have read several places that it is advantageous to use higher GB-per-stick RAM for the same total amount as fewer sticks increases performance but I'm not sure how. To be honest, my best guess is that it won't matter except that you would lose two DIMM slots for adding more RAM later if you wanted...

Just a quick update, I ran some storage benchmarks to compare my SSD to my HDD and here are the results:

SSD:
Attachment 219818

HDD:
Attachment 219817

Thanks for checking out my log!

Okay, so ironically just an hour after I posted that hard drive performance comparison my intel solid state drive decided to take a crap on me. This appears to be a known issue with the 320 series. Unfortunately the drive thinks it only has 8 megabytes of storage now and I've lost all of the programs on it. I contacted intel and they told me to send it in and they would send a replacement within 6 to 8 business days. Luckily I still have my old velocaraptor with a full windows install on it so I can still use the computer in the mean time.

sux to hear!! Did the lighning strike outside get so bad that it shut your PC down? Because that issue with the 320s seems to be when you PC is powered down incorrectly or something like that....oh well at least your getting a new one!!! thats the reason I only use the SSD for the OS and my WD black for games and programs

Actually I pulled the power cord during startup because I spilled tea on my desk and wanted to make sure it didn't kill my rig. Apparently that shutdown triggered the firmware bug and when I restarted I got the dreaded "boot disk not detected" message.

UPDATE: New SSD is installed and most of my programs are back to normal (still d/ling some games). The new 320 seems faster than the old one but its probably just a placebo effect....
