I am a failure as an overclocker...

Thread Starter
I so badly wanna join the 1ghz overclock club, but I just cant get things to go well. I have many issues;

1. I dont know what Im doing, I know what the multiplier and Voltage for the cpu does, but thats about it, if someone could kindly point me to a guide where I can find explanations on all the different options I can change, Id rep ya forever lol.

2. Heat: Heat is my biggest enemy, and I honestly dont know why...
Other peoples reported temps are much lower than mine, although I have taken extreme air cooling measure by removing my case side, fashioning 2 floor fans inline to the side of the case, and then setting the case with the fans catching intake air from a 10,000 btu AC unit set to 60f. Yet still my core temp gets to like 56c...

If anyone could provide any info on these subjects I would greatly appreciate it.

Try getting a Corsair H50. I had an E8400 that was hitting 200F on the stock cooler, and then now i never go over 110F (Please note these temperatures are in Fahrenheit, not Celsius). The corsair H50 is liquid, but corsair will cover any damages if it leaks (and HIGHLY unlikely). They are on amazon for about $60 and include free shipping.

Well the TX3 isn't exactly the best cooler, if you were wanting a better one I could assist you with your choice. Just give a budget pretty much

Who measures temperatures in F? And for $60 or less there are much better air coolers on the market than the H50.

Your idle temps are higher than my burn temps.
Get a better cooler such as Hyper N 212 or Xigmatek Gaia (To name the cheapest few)
TX3 is very basic.
it can be that you have a bad chip and having 1.4v @ 3.8 you diffidently would get those temps on air cooling.... check this link out it might help you...http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/90...ide-newbs.html

I disagree. For $60 I think the H50 is one of the best coolers out there, or something similar by antec or something. It just needs the second fan for push pull to really shine.

H50 will never be a good cooler for it's price.
It's a good cooler, just not as good as some <$60 aircooler.

EDIT : Adding a second fan add another $10.
Makes it a $70 cooler and believe me there are much better sub $70 aircooler
