Looking For New Case/HD on the bottom

Thread Starter
I just spent the last few months setting up my new server. Pretty basic but i love it and the thing i want to do is get a better cse for it. Something that can hold a lot of hard drives. Over the next few months i plan on buying more hard drives and really increase the space but one of the issues i have is that the case i currently use is way to small. Its just a stock mid tower, nothing fancy but because of the size and position of the SATA ports its very hard to get more hard drives in it.

What im looking for is a decent size case with the hard drives on the bottom of the case, like i have seen some cases where the actually mount under the motherboard. Does anybody know what im talking about?? i cant seem to find any but i have seen them on OCN and would really like to look into them. I would buy a rack mount tray but because my server is a full ATX board not sure if it will fit. Can anybody help me out? :/

My element G has space for 7 3.5s in the rack and 2 2.5s on the bottom. Makes me want to buy more HDDs!

There is a lot to be said for the functionality offered by the Antec 1200. I know it is way behind the times in regards to styling and "tooless" installation of devices but I consider it a modders dream machine (I am not afraid to any type sheet metal mod) then in roughly the same price rance is the HAF 932. If you want the modern features that the 1200 lacks this is the one for me. If it is not a 1200 or a HAF932 I go major custom. I get this feeling in my bones that there are a lot of manufactures entering these markets and bringing with them hardware that is being"developed" or having the bugs worked out by the public. I fell this most definitly with water cooling gear.

i have a 1200 as my main rigs case, and i love it. Not sure what kind of mods im going to do to it yet but any ideas might be helpful lol. I need a case where i can fit hard drives easily and can pull them out if i need to. I kind of like how that Element G case looks...the hard drives stick outwards so the cables wont get in the way of the card and stuff i have in the computer. Currently i only have 2 HD's that need to be mounted, the current case is terrible im using but its just there to hold the drives....nothing more...lol. I will be purchasing atleast 4-6more drives over the next 6 months (looking at buying 1 a month or so). 6 is the goal becuase i want to have atleast 2 archive drives for backups and 4 primary.

Lian Li's PC-Vxxxx series has the hard drive section separated from the motherboard section. I own two of the first iteration PC-Vxxxx cases (the PC-V1000B and the PC-V2000B), but the new-generation cases are based on largely the same design.

Have a look at the PC-V1020B, which can fit seven 3.5" HDDs at stock. The PC-V1020 also comes in red and silver, if I'm not mistaken.

(As an aside, I'm somewhat surprised there isn't an equivalent to the PC-V2000, which could fit at least 12 3.5" HDDs.)

EDIT: There actually WAS an equivalent to the PC-V2000, the PC-V2010. Unfortunately, that case seems to have been discontinued.

Good luck in your quest!
