[GB] Crysis 2 Removed from Steam NOT because of 'Origin' - Page 17

Depends on if they make more money from DLC than they will lose from people who won't buy it anywhere but steam (assuming this does all have to do with DLC). After all, you yourself have said you'll "maybe" still buy it anyway. It's fairly unlikely they've lost any huge portion of sales just because it's available on one less digital distribution platform. If someone wants a game, chances are they'll buy it where it's available.

Those in the dominant market position are in a better position to dictate terms. Steams market dominance makes it the 800 pound gorilla and EA's decision seems more ego driven than a properly thought out business decision the more one thinks about it.
Just because they're in a dominant market position doesn't mean giving into their demands is the smart business decision. It's surely beneficial for steam to leverage their position to get a better deal, but why would it be benifical for EA to give into any demand just because they have leverage? And if, after all, Origin or some other platform gets a chance to eat into their market share because their collection is less complete... well...

Yup. Though not all business decisions are good for us (the consumers). But then, I suppose they don't really care about us unless it affects their bottom line anyway.

Hopefully you all realise that Valve did not see this coming, and EA used this simply as an excuse to pull it out of steam.

Crytek really didn't want to pull out at all. (that's what she said)

None of this was Valve's fault. EA is just pointing fingers to cover up for shady business practices.

Great now any EA game I might have to buy on disc... so if I want it release day either I hope amazon gets it to me on time, or I support places like Gamestop or bestbuy... which I am not gonna do.
Sorry but EA's download service is crap, it isnt able to support the load on release, constantly corrupts the files, and if there is a problem it takes forever to get it solved.
At least they give you the key and I can download the game elsewhere or copy it off a friend. :/

Ummm, how exactly did infer that?

Liking steam and being removed because you cant comply with their demands have no bearing on each other.

There are still other options such as D2D, Impulse, GOG or whatever other services are out there (I know there's a few more I can't remember, unless they shutdown or something).

Still won't stop me from getting BF3, which will be a hard copy. Hard copy for such game is necessary.

A lot of the time when you get it on D2D you still have to use the download service of the company that made the game, like a lot of GFWL games you merely get a key for it. However if D2D is the place that you can DL it from directly I am cool with it.
Impulse is a gamestop service, I don't wish to support them, just bad experiences in the past.

There's nothing in that post explaining why Crysis 2 was pulled from Steam.
This is a case of you hearing what you want to hear.

On [H] I spoke directly to an Origin developer, and he was shocked that Steam pull Crysis 2 and Alice:

That's word from the inside, not PR spin.

Every side of the story is shocked. This is because it was a decision made by executives. It isn't something they necessarily go around telling their staff.

-so of course everyone's going to be shocked.
