I'd say the lawyers probably had more input than anybody else in the decision, thought the executives were the final signoff.

So, on the theory that Valve was demanding cuts of DLC sold in-game and denying/removing games that do so, why is The Sims 3 still on Steam? It sells DLC through the Sims store, which is also accessible in-game. Is it maybe because it's also available outside the game anyway?

it probably has to do with steams new rules, which were likely added because of all the free to play games they just added. Which all items are purchased through steam. Any games with existing DLC content would be excluded, any new content coming out would be subject to the new rules.

Why else would crysis 2 get removed when the new DLC was released.

This is all hypothetical though, but seems the most logical to me.

Sounds to me like Crysis 2 was taken off Steam because of Origin. Am I reading this wrong? Looks like EA just shifted their words around to make it sound like that isn't the case.

ok guys, i have a limited edition steam account that has one of the few, rare copies of crysis 2 while steam briefly sold crysis 2 before they pulled it out of their catalogue. im holding an auction for my rare, limited edition, steam account with crysis 2 linked to it and starting bid starts around a million bucks.

Than you didn't even read a fraction of the article. It was taken out because the game broke a rule in Steams Policy. Most likely the fact that In Game DLC is prohibited.....

Well, it sort of sounds that way, that it's something to do with DLC terms, given that this occurred when the DLC was slated to hit.

However, if what you're saying were the case, wouldn't Crysis 2 itself remain and the new DLC would be prevented? Instead, they retracted the whole thing.

They did not do this with The Sims 3, which has purchasable DLC in-game (but is also purchasable outside of the game).

The Sims 3 has DLC purchasable in-game, yet it remains.

And the sims was just given new DLC (Generations) to download through Steam, so what's the excuse now?
