My watercooled Silverstone RV02: An overview (PICS)

Thread Starter
Finally finished my silverstone rig... most people said that this rig was not very optimized for water cooling... i went into it not knowing how true that statement was.

A few Gripes about the case:
- Almost everything is not screwless... that is, you need a screwdriver, screws, and maybe even more hardware depending on what you are doing.
- Looking at the pics online i thought it would be more spacious inside but it was not... very very tight fitting as you can see here with my RX 360mm rad.

-As you can see here i have a good two inches before the rad fouls my ram

-Installation Is super TRICKY compared to my old haf 932 and thermaltake armor. (vague pictures and directions in the manual)

-For you that plan on putting in a rad in push pull... you will have to take out the entire fan assembly on two bottom stock 140mm fans directly bellow the motherboard tray. Afterwards if you lay fans flat on the surface of the case when you have a rad in push pull.. and if the fans are pushing airflow up from the bottom set of fans, it won't work since the fans will hit the metal and make a super loud noise and might break it. (the fans)

I had to resort to ghetto rigging ducktape and foam to the bottom of the fans so they had a slight seperation between them and the floor, so they actually worked

you can't use the included rad mounts since my rad is to thick in push pull or even just push.

-Another gripe is that if you have a longer video card it will not fit with a thick rad... (one of my graphics card is 10.5" long, a ref 570) and it looks like this:

as you can see very little space and it forced me to take out one of my pull fans.

The Good stuff i liked:
-It looks cool

-It would be great for a strictly air cooled rig only
-It's unique

All in all, i'm vain and i despised the look of my haf 932, and i think it was sort of worth it. However when it came to practicality and functionality (at least water cooling) the Haf wins. I am not even sure if i can add another rad in there for my gpu blocks since it is so cramped. I just wanted to let some of you guys who are thinking about water cooling this.

Thanks

i'd seriously reconsider it if you plan on water cooling more than a cpu and mid range graphics cards.

The most you can fit is a 480mm rad if you cut out part of the case, and maybe a 120mm rad ontop.

I'd highly recommend it for air cooling though. (will work best with external exhaust video cards)

Oh, I already have a case, and it is great for space. I have nothing but space in my case right now. The phantom is a champ for space.

I want to mount a 240mm rad in the bottom of my case.

Instead of shimming the fans off of the bottom of the case so that they do not drag couldn't you simply cut away the mesh at the bottom of the case? I cut my mesh out with a dremel in order to (attempt to) reduce wind noise.

... the thought came to mind yesterday but i was way to lazy to do it.

how did it turn out for you? and what did you use to cut it?

EDIT: whoops i see you used a dremel.. my eyes aren't working today -_-
was it difficult to do? i might try it

well it's an okay pump but if i had more blocks.. or had a more restrictive rad i'd buy a mcp or something like it.

A RX 360 is way overkill for a single 2600k even at 5ghz.
I idle in the low 30s C, max load with ibt updated linpacks is mid to high 50sC.. but ibt avx always gets cpus super hot, and i don't see those temps unless i stress it with that.

thanks. i have that same pump and similar rad and have yet to set it up still waiting on parts for loop. nice to see you have low temps doesn't sound like overkill at all.

tubing looks great as well
