Duplicate Name Exist on Network

Ok, not 100% sure if this is the correct place to post but this is happening on a machine with Windows XP so I thought here would be fine but here's the situation:
Everytime client turns on computer, it loads, login screen comes and after, let's say, 5 seconds, Windows Error pops up saying "A Duplicate Name exist on the Network"

-Small company, about 20-30 computers on a domain...I checked the Active Directory for the computer name, there's only 1, which is his.

-I've changed his computer name, also unjoin the domain and rejoined but still no luck...tried 3-4 different names and I made sure no one else had those either

-I flushed the DNS but he's on static IP so I don't want to change his IP or anything

is there something I'm missing because I cannot figure this out!

You have two computers with the same NETBIOS name on the network. Change the name of one of the conflicting computers.

Right click on 'My Computer' and click on properties. Click on the "Network Identification" tab and click on properties (you could also run the Network ID wizard) and change the name in the top text box.

Done.

I thought NETBIOS name would be the same of the Computer Name

I Right Click on 'My Computer', go to the 'Computer Name' tab, click on 'Change', and change the Computer name there. If I click on the More button, it shows the NETBIOS which has always been the same as the Computer Name whenever I change it and restart.

run the wizard on both computers.

Oh almost forgot but delete the conflicting NetBIOS name in Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) as well

Just go into dsa.msc, go to computers.

Delete all computers.

It will re-populate when the computers next log on with up to date names.

Ok, did you use a image to install this PC? If so, it could be the SID that needs changing.

Hmm, all I could think to do is:

1. Remove the computer off the domain.

2. Remove entry in active directory.

3. Add back onto domain.

Other than that I couldnt help :/
