[Done already]Any reason not to order an Auzentech x-fi forte 7.1 on Saturday

Thread Starter
Mainly for games with logitech x-540 5.1, I had narrowed it down to the

soundblaster x-fi titanium fatality pro for $130 total
vs the
auzentech x-fi forte for $158 total, which uses some parts from the above, so they are quite similar in ways

http://www.xpresscanada.com/index.ph...uct/SCAU000070

Now if the buyer buys my old videocard, I will have the $$$ by Saturday (rather than 2weeks from now) for a new SC and the logi's from the same place

Any reason not to get the auzentech, I'm excited now

(I'd order it tomorrow morning, but I'd have to use all my food money, and stave for 2 weeks if the video card doesn't get sold saturday)

It's a good card, but for those speakers I'd personally save some money and get the Xonar DX. Unless there's something specific you don't like about it.

But yeah, the fatality pro crap is way overpriced.

Yes, I do think there's reason not to buy the Forte.

1. A lot of them have been reported to die within a year.
2. When they die, Auzentech has a poor RMA process. I'm sure there are people around these parts that have run into those issues.

Not the same card, but I'll give a strong plug for Auzentech. I have an Auzentech Prelude and it's by far my favorite card that I own. I own 4 or more Creative Xtrmemusics and Xtremegamers and 1 Titanium. The Prelude is simply a better sounding card.

I'd personally save money and grab the Xonar and a decent set of headphones. A nice set of $70 - 90 cans will sounds way way better than those Logitech speakers imho.

DX doesn't have as many features, and is bad with BC2, and uses a lot of CPU power

I never read about those yet, I look tomorrow, thanks, but I'll probably take the chance

$75 total for the x-540s are about as much as I want to spend for now, and although I might get some headphones down the road, and the forte is good for them too....they are bad on the hearing, uncomfortable after awhile....I'd prefer speakers, and there is no volume issues, either too loud for others, or not loud enough for me, I'll be fine

I do not recommend a Forte. Many people have had to deal with buzzing issues. I had to electrical tape the PCI bracket and put plastic washers on the screws to get rid of the buzz. Then it died after 9 months.

It has Dolby Headphones for surround, up to 192 sampling, an EQ, "Flexibass" for crossover, and very good sound quality. What more are you actually looking for?

CPU use will NOT be an issue unless you're running an old Pentium. You will feel no slowdowns compared to the Azuntech with your PII

Yes, it's bad for BC2, so if that's a big deciding factor I won't argue.

As much as I respect Ricky's opinion, its already done

One review said the capacitors get pretty hot, so I will strap a good fan to it, and hope my luck holds.

Its closest to the titanium fatality pro, and they have many more driver problems.

Thanks all for the help, wish me luck

(I have plenty of boring food, and just enough for some more meat and ice cream)
