Need a laptop recommendation

Thread Starter
What is your maximum budget?
500 pound sterling but the cheaper the better.

What country are you in?
United Kingdom

What will be the uses of this laptop?
AutoCAD and Photoshop are the most intensive things that will be running on the laptop. But also Internet and Movies.

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
Not particularly

What screen size do you require?
15

What screen resolution do you require?
No particular preference

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
New

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
3-5 hours(the more the better but without sacrificing on perfomance to much. I'd say looking for average-above average battery life for a laptop, but this isn't too important)

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings? No games

What operating system do you need? (if any)
I don't

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
No

How much hard drive space do you need?
320 - 500 will be fine

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
A dvd writer would be nice, but otherwise nothing in particular

Is there anything else we need to know?
Just looking for a good reliable laptop, that will run AutoCAD and Photoshop well, have a decent battery and won't cost to much.

I've got a Dell XPS 17 and its seriously good, though mine cost about £800....but I've heard the XPS 15 are as good just cheaper and smaller screen. If you do buy from dell make sure you check on sites like my vouchercodes coz there is always like a 10% off code running or similar decent deal. I know someone who ordered a sony sandybridge and said it was awful and much more expensive so he returned it for a dell.
