Well, looking at that chart for my mobo it says 95W Max, OC w/ cooling I have a Hyper 212 plus, does this work for the cooling required?

well you can overclock with out voltage....however I guess it is possible for my mobo to fail even under those conditions.

Damn, but I assume the chances are much lower on stock voltage? I hope the hyper 212+ can provide efficient cooling

The OP could have the newer x4 955 which are 95 TDP?

But you should make sure the TDP's match up. Older x4 955's were 125 W and if so I wouldn't even run it stock on that motherboard.

Never mind, didn't realize it was a BE, not sure if they had a 95 W variant for the 955 BE.

Any way I could find out? Here's the one I bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103808

I got it monday this week so I hope it's the 95w. If it is the 95 can I overclock?

Edit: It's advertised as 125
If I don't OC at all with this board be fine?

That's the 125 W version.

Truthfully its up to you. I wouldn't since I would freak out thinking my computer will burst into flames.

Stock might be fine, if you OC you'll probably damage something.

"Might be fine" God damn it, **** you MSI. There are cheaper motherboards with Mofset HSFs or whatever. I'll try to buy a new one in July. I hope this thing can hold out until then. I'm so pissed off
post #30 of 47
Keep it at stock, keep case temps down and you should be fine for a few months.

Try aiming fans at any exposed motherboard chip that looks like its getting hot. VRM's/PWM's anything.

Running that chip will make your mobo run hotter than it should.

Good luck!

Edit: Not sure if it'll work but you could try undervolting it till you get a better mobo.
