Will my processor bottleneck a 6970

Thread Starter
Just wondering if my processor would bottleneck a 6970... I just sold my GTX 460's (SLI Bottleneck) today and am looking to get a 6970 for a really good price on craigslist...

I'd think it wouldn't, but it's better safe than sorry

Thanks,

That's about as far as your going to get without bottleneck. I'd definitely recommend getting an even farther OC with a better cooler, and get that 6970. This is my first try with ATI, and So far so good.

I wanted to go single card so in the future I could multi-gpu on a different platform when I upgrade... The difference in bottlenecking wouldn't be that different with an x4 or an x6 in most applications, as most can't run 4 threads, and with bulldozer around the corner, I'd just be wasting my money.

However, thanks for the advice!

Thanks a bunch!

It will bottleneck it very slightly. Fortunately, the the Phenom II's ample on-die cache and your overclock should prevent any serious bottleneck.
