Noob here, overclock fan questions

Thread Starter
I just bought a new mobo, ram and a 2600k cpu. I've never left a cpu overclocked before, but got good results on some old school cpus when testing it.

My plan was to simply use the heat sink/fan that comes with the cpu and leave it at that. I don't know if I'll need some kind of additional fan for the cpu when I overclock, or if when you overclock they actually mean adding a case fan. What do people normally do as far as fans when overclocking, both cpu and case fans?

My Apevia case has a fan where it blows air out the back (where you hook up keyboard/mouse/etc), and it also has this plastic thing on the side case slider that you take off to access the mobo. This plastic thing reaches toward the cpu and directs airflow out of the case on the side.

So with all of that, will I need very much else when overclocking?

Well I'm kind of new to this, so what do you mean by cooler? And, is it absolutely necessary, or can I get away with overclocking with what I already have?

It is not recommended to overclock using stock fans. You may probably overclock by a few mhz and that will need good overall air cooling. If you plan to overclock above 4.0, just get a good cooler. What is your budget for a cooler? And what is the case that you are using?
