Need Help With QuadCore Q9550 Overclock

Thread Starter
I'm wanting to overclock to a safe rate. Here are most of my stats gathered through Super PI, CPU-Z, and RealTemp. Please see attatched screenshot.

Need help with BIOS settings. Voltage Settings and anything else you can do to help get my computer to perform better, from looking at the screenshot.

Thanks in advance!

You will have to provide more information to get a good answer. What type of motherboard do you have? Your cooling solution? Type of RAM? Etc. This can be partially achieved by filling out your system specs. Click User CP and then Edit System in the left hand column. Try to be as specific as possible with all of your information.

Hi there and welcome to OCN.
Please on top of the page there is the user cp. Please fill out your system specs.
So we know what mobo and cooler you have!
The temps look a tad high considering you ran only pi! I hope you have a decent CPU cooler

I like what I see, but you know what I am going to say, right?

If your using the stock cooler you will need a better cooler to overclock that setup to its potential. Once you have that 4GHz should be easy for you.

EDIT: I am certain I saw someone using that exact board, and who posted their exact overclock settings in this thread. Use the search function and you should be able to find them by searching for UD3L settings. Feel free to post questions in this thread as well; there are a lot of people with who use these boards.

Seeing that the CPU fan is the only thing holding me back at this moment can I get some advice as to which model to get? I've read up on the CM Hyper 212+ you've got, how is it? Do you recommend it, or perhaps another model?

Yes I would recommend the Hyper 212+ or something similar. It all depends on how much you want to spend. You can probably get something a little better but the 212+ is cheap and it works great, plus it can be used on the new processors if you should ever update your whole system. I am sure others would recommend something different, but the 212+ is a winner.

Is my Power Supply (550W eXtreme Power Plus (Cooler Master)) good enough to run the hyper 212+ along with all my other hardware, and the overclocking?

I would like to start overclocking asap. Can I get the bios settings that I should change, and at which increment should I overclock and change voltages.

Attatched are also some pics of my bios screens.

Try these settings. I would start by lowering the multiplier to 6 and stress testing with Prime 95 large FFT. If it passes for at least six hours, up the multiplier and test again for at least six hours with small FFts or about 20 passes of IBT at high mempry usage.

Code:

p.s. that PSU will be plenty as long as it is reliable, and good choice of cooler

EDIT: Your ram may top about around 900MHz, all you can do if that is the case is see if they will run at 450 FSB (or lower) with a 2.00D MCH latch.
