VGA water blockadaptability?

Thread Starter
so i'm looking to go with water cooling. but i'm noticing that it can be pretty pricy. I would feel better making such a big investment knowing that it would serve me in the long run/could be reused on my next rig/ or over multiple rigs down the line.

Where i'm getting at is... can a vga/gpu water block be used on future cards?
what i'm seeing is that vgas are designed to go with specific cards.

I think its such a waste of resources to create a block that is only compatible with one series of gpu for example. what happens when the cards get outdated... the water blocks end up in our landfills? (of course i'd have it recycled but still).

and why is it they aren't universal?
can they be made to fit with adjustments/tweaking?

i feel like this is a lot like why powercords do not have universal plugs... so that people have to buy new ones instead of using a friend's or a powercord they use on a different phone or laptop for example.

There are a couple universal options from XSPC, Swiftech and EK.

cool thanks, good to know.
so why do they even bother making card specific blocks?
i guess they are more form fitting that way?

I could be wrong but the universal ones that i seen only cover the gpu core

There are no universal blocks that cover ram. Card specific cards are made so that they fit better and allow more space for other things.
