Hello Guys

I switched from Intel to AMD and have built this wonderful AMD Leo system
how ever I am having issues with USB on the Motherboard (Asus M4A87TD)

I can not connect any external hard drives since they power up but are not detected by windows at all (no data connection) my apple ipod connects disconnects and reconnects repetitively

Have you DL'd latest bios?

Just going off memory here with another mobo (Asus) I have, have you tried loading the JMicro JMB360x controller driver? I can't say for sure but I was just looking on the Asus site at downloads (under utilitities) and this seems to ring a bell. Like I had to use it on that mobo. Sorry couldn't help more.

I had to guess you're win7 x64 as you don't have you rig sig filled in.

Edit, this is another one I ended up using also from the Asus site, ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit also found under utilities.

I have discovered a work around for this issue it turns out that AMD is more strict on USB specification complaint devices then Intel is which is why the devices simply don't work no software problems no hardware problems found this out after reading this Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2521680

since my keyboard and mouse work without problems and the flash drives to work around the issue of not being able to work with external drives I think I'll buy a NAS network storage device eventually and just sell off my iPod for a device that's to specifications grown tired of iPods and iTunes

I had the same problem with my old m4a77td. I couldn't solve the problem. I just plugged in anything that required power to the back. That meant that usb drives will work in front but all else gets plugged in in the back.
