!!EDIT!!
EVGA/ASUS GTX 590
Diamond/XFX 6990
They are the cheapest ones at 699-750

Staying single wink.gif can't go wrong with the gtx 590. Get one now biggrin.gif

If you can do crossfire/sli, a pair of 570s or 6950/6970s should be on par with these guys if not in some cases a bit better. good luck thumb.gif

the day you stop being a fanboy you will become a true enthusiast and true performance fan. Anyhow, Even though I would have picked GTX590. IMO You should get the HD6990 because as many have said the vrams aren't that good on the 590 as they are in the 580?

but as you already know, a lot of people including myself here would pick two 580's in SLI instead of a single 590.

2 Cards in SLI or CFX is better than 1 Dual GPU card

Xfire isnt going to be possible with OC/Unlocked 6950s as the 2gb 6950 I bought doesnt have the BIOS switch on it, much like alot of the ones around today, too many kids RMA'd clearly molested models and manufacturers got pissed, and as a result my new 6950 didnt have bios switch, which is why its still a 6950 biggrin.gif

I am not a FANBOY, just a solid AMD fan, always supported them, always will. . Main reason is that INTEL makes you pay for their lost Military R&D funds, which is why everything they have their label on is 30%+ more then its worth.

For 1,000$, you could get FOUR HD 6950s that would blow the GTX 580s so far out of the water, they'd die of oxygen drowning before making it back down.

Provided you had the slots and mobo for four dual-slot cards....

yeah you can go x2 GTX 580s for bit more cash, or wait for 6990 test it out make sure it is running fine and flip the bios switch for stock 6970 clock speeds. You can also use a pin to flip so you dont rip the sticker voiding warranty depending on brand.

With 500$, you could have near-GTX 580 SLi performance for half the price.

I'll put simply:

HD 6950 = 8.5, GTX 580 = 10.

HD 6950 = 250$, GTX 580 = 500$

GTX 580 = Stoopid.

I think GTX 580 is for people with cash to spend and want that extra performance no matter the cost. I would of gotten 2 of those, but I made the smart choice and saved up my cash. It was not worth it for me.
