A quality 850W PSU (like the AX850) will be fine for 2x580s, but if you planned on adding a third in the future, go with the 1000W unit.

I have a 1000W unit purely for upgradability in the future. Too many times I've been like "hey, I should add a second card for SLI" then not had enough power to do it. Suddenly that ~$300 upgrade jumps to ~$500 for a new PSU and card.

Not for the money you have to spend. The 2600k is just as fast if not faster than a 980X in most normal computing. It does get beaten in heavily threaded apps but it costs 3 times less money (and 1366 is pretty much obsolete with SB-E and IB coming out)...

This.

At $2800 you can do pretty much anything, including watercooling if you are up to that.

Yes. Watching things online is more dependant on your internet connection more then other things though.

You would need more than 850W for Tri-SLI but my mobo only has two slots so if I want to add a third Lightning down the road I'm going to have to basically do a new build anyway. I think two ought to be sufficient....

EDIT - The 2600k would do fine in video encoding and rendering. Maybe a few ticks behind a 980x but still much faster than almost any other processor on the market....

Your title should be $2,800 For Extreme PC", but overall, it's Sandy Bridge all the way at this point.

That build seems a lot more expensive then it should be, especially for a mid tower :/

Edit : I would get a lower capacity SSD unless you for some reason need higher (IE get a vertex 3 60gb for about $100).

That build also neglects an OS tongue.gif

At $500 more, so $3300? You could watercool everything and you would want a bigger case then a 600d, like an 800d or even a caselabs M8/M10.

Also, what country are you from since newegg might not be exact pricing to your location.

Lots of quality components. I could have saved a few bucks here and there but I got the stuff that appealed to me. Everybody's tastes are different, it was just a suggestion....
