Which cooler should I get to get my i5 760 to 4 ghz?

I have a cooler master storm scout, and an i5 760. I move my rig around a lot and use it for lan parties, hook it up to TVs and use it as emulators when chilling with different people, and playing movies from the hard drive.

As a result, I want a cooler that can handle being moved around, going on a bumpy car ride, etc. I have only overclocked one other computer, and it was an i3 with a stock heatsink so I don't know much beyond the basics...

Here's what I've narrowed it down to:

H50 from BestBuy for $50
Scythe Mugen 2 from Directon for $37
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ from Fry's for $25

Should I go with an H50 because it can handle more rugged circumstances? Does it cool 4ghz alright? Can either tower heatsink handle a lot of moving around, or will they become loose?

I wouldn't want chunks of metal dangling around my pc when I move it around so it's better to avoid tower coolers. Go for the H50, $50 is an awesome price for that. Just slap on another fan for push/pull and 4ghz won't be much of a problem.

First off, welcome to OCN! as I see this is your very first post!

Now, onto your topic, H50 offers more thermal performance and can handle rough transportation better than the other 2 tower coolers. The only downside is perhaps its higher price. It handles i5 760 at 4GHz easily.

Having said this, the other 2 tower coolers can also handle 4GHz but the temperature will not be as pretty as the H50. As far as rough transportation is concerned, they should not come off so easily when your Storm Scout is placed on its side on a car seat (ie with the tower being vertical to gravity).

But as 'rugged' and 'bumpy' are quite subjective descriptions, I would rather play safe and suggest you to use the H50.

Thank you everyone for the quick responses! And yeah, I looked around and decided to create an account here....it feels like you guys have the most guides/FAQs I want.

Anyway, what sort of fans should I get for the push/pull thing? And should I set the H50 to have the radiator blow into the case or out? If it blows in, should I orientate the top fan and front fan to blow in a certain direction?

Also, what temps should I be going for with the H50?

Setting it up as intake or exhaust can be better/worse depending on the case setup and airflow.
You might need to try both and see what works best (what case are you going to use?)

As for fans you want ones with good static pressure, not just high CFM (static pressure is cfm sustained when met with resistence - eg. the radiator/hsf etc).
Gentle Typhoons are quite popular here (I have them too lol), but Noise Blockers are also great and of couse 38mm fans (though you'd want a controller for them as they're usually pretty loud).

Regarding whether the H50 radiator fan should blow into or out of a case, IMHO it depends on a few factors:
a. which case it is
b. where inside the case is the rad installed
c. how ventilated is the environment immediately surrounding the case

So, there is no fixed answer.

If you plan to hang around in OCN, I suggest you to fill in the details (eg what case) of your system (click User CP-->Edit System).

Alright guys, I updated my profile to include my build. My case is a Cooler Master Storm Scout. I haven't bought it yet....I'm in no hurry as my motherboard is currently going through RMA.

Alright, I've ordered bestbuy to send a h50 for pickup for a grand total of 53 dollars. Any advice on the arrangement of the case fans?
