Help me pick out some new hardware?

I need a notebook for roaming around campus, so any funds left over will be put towards a gaming rig.

The notebook must have a 13-15" screen, a dual core (or at least 2 threads), and 3 hours of battery life. The lighter the better! (carrying around my G73 was killing me lol)

Now, I also want to rebuild my gaming rig. I'm not too sure what I should do.
As you can see in my sig rig I still have some extra parts. Should I sell the RAM and Motherboard to do a Sandy Bridge build, or would that just be wasting my money as I could easily purchase a 920?

As for the graphics card, I'm going to be using a single screen for a while, 1920x1080. I would like to play most games at high settings with AA off, AF on preferably. Physx isn't necessary at all, infact I would prefer AMD on this one as my PSU is only a 500w.

So should I go SB, x58, or 1156? I would say x58 would be the easiest, and probably the cheapest.

So, what parts should I buy to make a desktop and what's a cheap, lightweight, and portable college laptop that I should get?

Thanks OCN,

- Matt

Well you already have an x58 motherboard and ram.. Might as well just pick up an i7 for cheap used and like 6950.

How much are we spending on the laptop?

I'm thinking about going with a 920, but can't really decide. lol
For the laptop, preferably under $500 since I won't be using it a ton. Just looking for something to take notes on, run the software programs we're given, and browse the web.

Thinking about stopping down at Microcenter now that I see what they're going for here on the forums. lol

Right now a used 920 or a brand new 960 looks like the best choice for me.
Thanks for your help. =]
