Overclocking GTX480 - Page 4

I think your PSU sould be enough because I have a 550w corsair PSU with an OC'ed GTX480 + an OC'ed 2500k which uses more power than the E8400(mine has a 95w TDP) + allot of fans and drives
I have never experienced any problems with my system.

I had a E8400 a while ago,the older C0 revision and it ran at 4 GHZ for more than a year,no problems.Set your FSB to 1781 ,vcore to about 1.38 I suppose your ram could run at 800 mhz unlinked.

This one is in German but it looks good other than that.
Skip to the part about finding max FSB, the first two parts are about choosing hardware.
The trick to overclocking is to change one thing at a time because, when something goes wrong and you've only changed one thing since the last time it worked, you'll know what caused the instability.

Edit: I did see an English one as well but that German one was far better from a quick skim through it so if you translate it it should be good.
If there's a part of the translation you're worrying about don't hesitate to ask, it comes out a bit garbled sometimes.

and then what just monitor my temperatures?, i heard great things about corsair PSU's when i bought it. and you think lower my voltage, wont that cause my card to perform a little less..

and instability can be defined as?, and what kind of damage can i do whilst finding this instability?

As long as you stay at safe voltages (1.4V according to the forum I looked at) and your temperatures are okay (under 72.6C according to intel's specs, if you're running burn test or LinX under 80 should be fine) checking for stability shouldn't damage your CPU in any way.

Edit: Instability would be crashing or showing an error when running a stability testing application or in real world use. A "stable" system is one in which the hardware doesn't cause errors or blue screens, anything like that.

Hey guys i am using a G31M-S2L Motherboard and it has a M.I.T setup for overclocking my e8400, it seems confusing to me, would anyone help guide me through overclocking further on this, what stress tests i should run, what i should use to monitor my temps, and when i should stop?
