FWIW, I run my sig rig off of a 750w PSU (though if I'm honest, I'm not really comfortable running on 750w, as calculators put the power consumption over the 750w limit of the PSU, and since adding CF 6950s, while folding I notice that my PSU puts out a lot of heat, more than I've ever noticed from a PSU before)
Really? From what I've heard 6950s sip power, at least compared to Fermi cards.

I run my sig rig w, 2 DVD-R drives, and 2 additional HDDs with no probs.

They probably do, but I've overclocked them quite a bit. A 6970 should consume just a little bit less power than a GTX570 according to Tomshardware (and some other consumption threads like this thread on OCN), so I've got two of those. Legitreviews and Tweaktown put a loaded system at ~550ish watts with 6970CF, which is way under 750w, but again, there's so much info bouncing around, and using conservative ratings on the Power Supply calculator online, that's where I got that idea from.

I'm also running 3 1.5tb hdds (2 in RAID1, the other used to store my videos, but for whatever reason corrupted), 8 fans, and a pump, but again haven't really had any problems, just being cautious.

It looks like 480s and 580s use a lot more power, 570s use the same power as a 6970 (or unlocked and overclocked 6950), and 6950 uses a good bit less power if run at stock clocks/settings. The weird thing is that from legitreviews they say that a 580 SLI and 6970 CF both use similar power draw, which seems weird if the 6970 on its own uses less power, then two should use less power than 2 580s. ::shrug::
