Budget build for nephew, 1155 or 1366? - Page 3

Thread Starter
Thanks for the input guys. Just to clear things up, I'd be buying used 1366 parts as they're still quite expensive brand new. As for going AMD I looked into it a bit but I'd probably end up getting one of the thuban's if I did, and at that point I might as well go SB. As for not using the hardware to it's full potential, yeah it most likely won't. But he does play a lot of the modern games we play on his current crappy rig when he's not on xbox and when he comes over my house on my spare rig. He has his own steam account with a few games I bought him. He definitely LOVES FPS's and I plan on getting him bfbc2 and bf3 when it comes out.

P.S. What case would you guys recommend? Him being only 12 I was thinking something more on the durable side in case something (god I hope not lol) happens. I was thinking a long the lines of the HAF mid tower series, or maybe something else. What do you guys think?

CoolerMaster CM690 II case is decent.

For something cheapo, Rosewill Challenger, NZXT M59 or NZXT Gamma case.

go with 1155. It is a newer system, will last longer as far as support, and won't be too expensive if you go with lower end parts. Like getting a dual core vs a quad.

I would go for a 2500k 1155. More future proof, and you may get a golden one that hits 5.4ghz. Those are worth twice their retail value to the right person.

Unless you want to hold out until LGA2011, but that is a way off yet.

EDIT: Can you be my uncle

I'd personally reccomend this card from evga. [/URL]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130571
awesome card manufacturer and very trusted. I'd also go with an i5 2500k.
gigabyte also has a pretty solid z68 board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128494

One more vote for the CM 690 II.
It's a decent case. Nice futures. It's also the case I'm saving money for too.
