1600mhz vengeance ram only wants to run at 1333 - asus p8z68-v pro

Okay so earlier today i made a thread about my computer spassing out due to ram, however it was filled with faulty info! (my bad! ) anyway, here is the new thread :

My pc specs are
Mobo : Asus p8z68-v pro
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz CL8
CPU : 2600k
GPU : Gtx 470
Primary HDD : OCZ Vertex 2 60gb

Okay, so lately ive been getting some BSoD's saying "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" "0x1a" - this error is caused by the ram (the internet told me so!)
So i decided to, once again, troubleshoot a bit, and it turns out my 1600mhz ram just does not want to run at 1600mhz - however if i use the same timings and voltage and then run them at 1333mhz, there seem to be no errors (tested with mentest86+, all timings and voltages are set manually in bios)

Am running the latest 0501 BIOS

So the question is, is my ram faulty? - Or is it just the BIOS that is still too imatture to handle these ram at 1600 mhz? (they are on the QVL list so they should work flawlessly)

I hope someone can help me, because i am not really happy having my ram at 1333 since i paid for 1600mhz (yes i know the difference is minimum / near non-existant)

Ehhhh what? i dont think you read my post properly before responding, i can run the RAM sticks at 1600mhz just fine, they just cannot pass a memtest at that speed.



A little update : i did a looooong test on 1333mhz, and the sticks apparently still fails it just takes a lot longer for them to fail at 1333mhz than it does on 1600mhz. So i guess the ram sticks are bad... will RMA and live without a computer for a couple of weeks i guess

They both give errors when run alone, and ive tried them in 3 different slots, so i guess so (cant access the 4th slot due to my noctua cooler hehe )

I could also just run with these ram untill i get my paycheck, then buy 2 new sticks, then RMA these "old" ones, eventually buy a new, smaller cooler, and run with 16gb of memory instead

Shouldnt using the XMP profile be enough? Corsair told me it should

Some updates if anyone is interested :
After having tested a LOT more on these RAM, it really seems like something is broken.
Stick A will always fail test 7 in memtest86+, and will never fail any other tests (this happens in all RAM slots)

Stick B will sometimes fail in either test 2, 3, 4 or 6, but never test 7. It usually passes 1 pass with 1 error, sometimes 0 erros, other times (up to) 10 errors, always in test 2, 3, 4 or 6, and never 7!. (Also happens in all RAM slots)

This leads me to believe that i definately have bad RAM.
Reason : If it was the CPU - both sticks would, mostly, fail at the same tests right ? (also, ive heard that SB CPU's wont boot at all with a bad memory controller - not sure if true though )

And :
If it was the slots themselves, the errors should also be somewhat similar on both sticks?

Please correct if i am wrong, because i did not yet RMA anything

EDIT : What i wrote about the RAM working at 1333mhz is faulty info - they do in fact still give errors at 1333mhz, just not as many (not always as many anyway!) - lowering RAM voltage from 1.5 to 1.489 (something like that) will also (most of the time!) reduce the error count

I have done over 100 memtests over the last week, and i feel confident that my conclusion (that it is indeed a RAM problem) is true.
If i am a complete fool and am missing something important, please do tell!

Double edit :
I am aware that test 3, 4 and 6 (that stick B fails in) are CPU related, but since Stick A never fails those tests, i do not believe it to be a CPU problem.
