It's pretty ironic that everyone praises CDProjekt for treating their PC customers right, and then everyone proceeds to hop on the "EA's dedicated nutsack masseuse" bandwagon just because this day-one paid DLC is for BF3.
This is my thoughts exactly for the past few days, but after 14hrs of studying and 5hrs of exams filling my memory
it shortly after
, I'm starting to wonder...
What if DICE had been working on the Karkland DLC for later release as an expansion and all guys and gals at DICE pulled double-shifts to finish it for us so we could enjoy it on release day?
And of course EA simply taking advantage of this and including it in the pre-order as an incentive. If this were the case, DICE is awesome and EA is, well.. still EA.
Of course we will never really know the truth, unless one you guys know anyone at DICE or EA who can shed some light on the matter.
What if the costs of producing the game was higher than expected and they needed to cut out content, a.k.a the Karkland Expansion, to be able to release the game at $60 and then call the rest DLC for $10. As opposed to charging $70 for the full game upon release, from a marketing perspective it would make sense for EA to break up the game and has the added bonuses of giving them something to offer as a pre-order incentive.

PS: I realized EA said Karkland DLC is not day 1 release after typing all this, so enjoy the fiction above, or propaganda, whichever you prefer. Edited by OrangeBunnies - 6/16/11 at 8:25pm
