*FIXED!!!! FINALLY!* -No SLI option/screen black problem .. - Page 3

I am now 100 % sure this is software related! I went in and uninstalled both cards through device manager, and then it automatically installed them again. It prompted me to restart, and i did. Then the nvidia driver had switched back to 1 card mode, and the res was high again. I pressed enable sli, and the screen went back to the 800x600.

Then i went into device manager, and saw that only one of the cards gave the error 43 code! I then disabled that card and enabled it, and poooof ! High res, sli on! I opened crysis with the SLI visual indicator, and i was getting good useage and very high fps on highest !! The sli was working !! The only problem is, everytime i restart my computer it resets to the error 43 code, so i have to do the above procedure EVERYTIME i wanna run SLi, otherwise it doesnt work

what the **** is this ? Atleast i know my computer can run sli.

This is my score with SLi enabled through the above method; http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1390942;jses...PBXHtYEPBsfHjF

I got 14k graphics score ! The cards are definetly working in sli config, but i have some software/driver conflict. I actually suspect it to be windows related

It's an option in the nVidia driver software. You would need to get to the nVidia control panel (right click on desktop > nVidia control panel), 3D options, and change the display performance mode.

EDIT: forgot to read ahead. >.<

How about in multi-display compatibility mode? Same thing?

Yea yields the same result with both display methods.

Here is an updated score; http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1391030?show...ESRHdsLLRqDaST

14.3k GPU score ! Cards are definetly working !! I thinks this is a windows conflict, based on the fact that i am sometimes able to make it work the way i mentioned in the previous posts.

Have you tried deleting/disabling your other drivers one by one and see of that solve the problem?

Maybe windows tried to install drivers for both cards and they are conflicting?

Yes i have disabled my realtek audio driver, both my gigabit LAN drivers (got two intel units on this board) and even my chipset drivers. Nothing worked. I have read something about SP1 can cause problems on win 7 platforms, any of you experienced that? My win7 is with SP1, and i can't uninstall it coz it came with the OS disk.

Hmm i think i have tried installing the 275.33 driver and enabling sli on a completely fresh win 7 install that hadn't yet connected to the net. This didn't work, and i can't see how windows should have installed drivers if that was the case ?

This is a very annoying, puzzeling issue !

But im just happy my hardware is working

haha lol i hope not I need to find a way to make them friends then - they do not have the same bios, do you think it would be a good idea to flash the same bios to both cards?

It might help but can be quite risky. if something goes wrong you might brick the card(s).
I suggest if you know a friend with a GTX 580 or something is to try to SLI it with one by one of those two GTX 580s any see whom is causing this problem.
I remember (not sure) that you made a thread about your Palit GTX 580 right?
I don't know but I have a feeling that the Palit card who caused such issues.
