I have now finished my Biology exam, and everything went fine - good to see this issue didn't affect my grade, since it's a bit more important cool.gif

But this issue has yet to be resolved - i have gotten any further, and im very close to buy ATI lol. Its just annoying to think about the loss chained with selling the 580s.

Stay on the green team man wink.gif, palit cards change the pcb and so on so more then likely your problem, try and trade someone the palit for any other brand (SLI 460's in my PC all working perfectly EVGA,ASUS and the ASUS even is non reference has5+1 power phases)
FYI before you swith to the red team... my best buddy runs Xfire 6970's and has constant problems and has to run certain configurations/drivers for certain games.

sorry for bringing up a somewhat old topic back up, i currently have this issue. it is definately a SOFTWARE driver issue. my SLI was working flawlessly since January (when i built this machine). 2 days ago i update my machine and boom. sli no longer works... (ie i did not update the Nvidia drivers, but they were MS updates) each card works individually but sli is rendered to nada. pc freezes when it tries to use sli. machine only sees 1 card. if i reboot it will see 2. enable sli and it works... i want to throw this **** out.

You can undo Windows Updates, so no need to toss out your machine just yet. ;-)

not if you disable restore points... frown.gif i reformatted everything. its working for now i think. im going to test it after work.) im going to be re-doing this build because i still have the old V1 UD7 with that intel recall which ii need to send away this week. so while my mobo is out i will order some new rads and water blocks for my tri sli and maybe pick out new ram and 1TB drives.

I have finally found a working fix for me !!

Before applying my fix, i was running win7 ultimate SP1.
I thought about whether it would be the service pack 1 that was messing up my sli, and i installed an old win 7 version, also x64 and ultimate, but without the sp1.

I enabled SLI with a big lump in my throat, expecting the same old low res and no answer from the driver. It has been an ongoing problem for more than 2 months, but this new install fixed the problem - now i can enable sli and restart my computer without having to reinstall the driver and disabling/enabling my cards in device manager!

So i encourage you guys out there having problems with no sli option/black screen low res to check if you are running ultimate x64 SP1 - if you are, try finding an older version without the service pack, it did the trick for me!

finally ... phew.

If you're not too attached to this fresh install you just did then you may want to try updating to SP1 to see if it really was SP1 that is the issue or if just the fresh install fixed it. I say this mostly because the AVX that the update allows to be utilized on your CPU but also just becuase it's nice to be up to date if possible. And seems to me that now is the time because you aren't heavily invested in this install yet, only thing you'd lose is the time it'd take to reinstall it without the SP1 if something did go wrong. And it'd be nice to have a definite answer for others that may have this issue.
