How much will an aftermarket cooler cool?

Hiya.

So I got myself a pair of 5770 the other day which I'm currently running in CrossFire.

I use them to do mining, anyways thats not important.

The thing is, at 100% load and GPUFans at auto, my cards get 90c.

I would like to run these cards 24/7 everyday of the month at full load, so I'm a little worried about the temperature.

I contacted AMD and they told me that these cards can get up to 100c when you are playing games, but that the fans should keep them at under 80c, however that's not my case (maybe because I stress them to 100%).

I have my computer next to my window (to try to lower the temps) and I have a 140mm fan on the side of my case, working as an exhaust.

If I put my fans on 90%, it will sound as an airplane hangar (possibly NASA's, lol). But then again, my temps drop to 75c which is a lot lower than the 90c (at auto fan).

So my question is, is it worth getting aftermarket cooler for them both? I know it will be more quiet, and thats a big plus, but how cooler will they get? I was thinking about the Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo Pro.
I know this cooler isnt compatible with the 5770, but with some proper tools you can mod it to fit.

Anyone that has changed the cooler of their 5770 and seen any differences?

Every advice is appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo Pro.

I would bet that cooler will make a huge difference if you can get it installed correctly.

I hope so too in that case. What should I count with? 10c or more? At 100% load.

That cooler will drop temps considerably. Check your board spacing because the cards will take 3 slots with those coolers installed.

I'm just speculating, but I would guess significantly more than that. You will be spreading the heat over a very large area with two fans to dissipate the heat, and your 5770s should be relatively easy to tame.

i think it would be worth it

i recently installed a cooler on my 5850 but it wasn't for cooling purposes my fan was screwing up and it would cost me about 40-50$ to rma so might as well get a good aftermarket cooler i'm using it on my bottom one my top one got a 4-5c decresse since my bottom one is now cooler my temps are usually 79-80(top) and 50-60(bottom with cooler)thats when there at 100% when i game

I installed two TTPs on my 6850s and I went from idling above 50C for the top card, to load temps in-game at 55C. With my crappy case flow, 100% usage like mining/furmark runs hotter than that though. I'm running fans 100% 24/7 through power supply and they're about the same level as my case fans. You might also see if turning your side fan to intake makes a difference. Worth a shot.

The Artic Cooling Twin Turbo Pro would make a night and day difference. Not only would they be dead silent they would drop your temps a huge amount as well....
I like to bring OP's attention to the official page of Accelero TWIN TURBO Pro where the compatibility list does not include HD5770.

Take that list with a grain of salt. It doesn't list the 6950 as being compatible with it, yet it fits and works fine....
