WebMatrix web.config settings???

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
I am not a web designer, but my boss asked me to make a quick mock up site for a client. I found Microsoft WebMatrix and their templates, I tried one and just published the thing to a host and got a 403 forbidden. So I tried Orchard, and got the same thing then found out I have to configure the web.config??

**Note I am just trying to publish the blank template right now**

The web.config looks like below. How do I set it correctly to allow people to view the 'site'?

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!--
    Note: As an alternative to hand editing this file you can use the
    web admin tool to configure settings for your application. Use
    the Website->Asp.Net Configuration option in Visual Studio.
    A full list of settings and comments can be found in
    machine.config.comments usually located in
    \\Windows\\Microsoft.Net\\Framework\\v2.x\\Config

if you are using IIS you need to go into the configuration settings and manage the access control

I think by default it is off as a security measure. has been some time since I have used this package.

MSDN should have documentation on config. The web.config file should not be manually edited if you don't know what you are doing. If I am not mistaken the IIS console will auto update web.config on the server side.

best of luck ask more questions if necessary
