Please recommend a decent psu.

Heya guys, starting to pull my hair out because of my new build.

Currently got a cheap generic 950w psu from my old "shop" build. Just bought a new mobo and a NXZT M59 case, the 8pin connector is too short :/

Please recommend a psu with a nice long cable (I want to run the cable behind the motherboard so it needs to be slightly longer.

Another problem, I was planning on stealing the old DVD drive from the old pc. Unfortunately it's a ribbon connection and my new mobo doesn't have the plugs needed. Can I get away with an adaptor or is it a new drive?

Also if anyone else has the M59 case. Id like some help wiring the front panel, I don't think I got the plugs in right.

Sorry for the spam and cheers for any advice.
My first build.

Depending on solution you may need to get an 8 pin extender. I needed one for hiding my x750 able around the 600t

tbh I'd rather get a new psu at the same time as an extender as my current one is a Winpower or something. I remember it was £30 about 2years ago.

Either going to buy a second HD4890 in the future to Crossfire with my current HD4890 or I'm going to buy a new card.

Any decent cpu recommendations?

Also, are there any decent guides on how to wire the front panel of the M59 case? What about the dvd drive issue?

If either yourself or another mod could move this to a "general advice" forums I'd apreciate it.

i dunno, is a new PSU really nessesary? i mean, do you want to pay for a new PSU that would probably be around 150+ or a few dollars for an 8 pin extender and some cable sleeving? if your PSU can handle the rig now, i suggest you just get the extender and some sleeving. (but seriously any rig with sleeved cables is like.... ew to me XD)

Hey man thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if the current PSU can handle my rig as I'm having trouble wiring the front panel on my case. Even still it's a cheap, generic psu and I'm not sure whether to trust it or not with my brand new mobo, i5, ram, hdd etc.

Sleeving is purely for Aesthetic reasons, makes it neater and if Its black sleeving it'll blend into the case the the cables I can't hide.

Wise. I once had an allegedly 1000 watt Athenatech power supply that turned out to be a re-badged Tagen 550 to 600 watt power supply stuck in a larger metal box. It caught on fire. I took it apart out of curiosity and noticed the underwriter's number (it was actually a Tagen) and that the internal circuit board appeared to have been soldered together by monkeys.

Antec, Corsair, Thermaltake 700 to 1000 watts. Modular if you can afford it.

well yeh but.... cmon... it just looks so much better sleeved, and even if its a cheapo PSU, if its rated for 950W, its probably in worst case scenario, the equivalent of like a 650W PSU, which is enough for your rig. but a new PSU, i would recommend HX650 from Corsair, just so that you can support pretty much any single graphics card out there

I have seen evidence to persuade me to suspect that you might be mistaken. A defect in a cheap PSU can take out an entire computer.
