Battery grip for 50D - Page 2

I've heard a lot of third party grips use the exact same molds as Canon/Nikon so the build quality should be very similar. That being said get genuine batteries. I've tried so many third party batteries and they either die faster than normal, cause errors or if you let them die they will never charge again...

This. I bought Nikon batteries and use them in my 3rd party vert grip. I'm very happy with it.

I have the Zeikos ZE-CBG50 on my Canon 50D, it is a really good grip. I can't find one single thing wrong with it.

Another thing to consider is if you plan to sell the body later down the road, because if you are the Canon branding will holds it value more than the generic ones, e.g. spend $160 for the canon one and get an additional $100 for the body/grip combo versus just the body value with the generic grip.

I have one of these incoming from Amazon right now. I can't wait to try it out.

I ended up getting an Opteka with a wireless remote and 2 3000Mh batteries for pretty cheap and yes they must use the same factory, because I got to compare them close up, the Canon, Opteka, and Zeikos. They all look exactly the same in every way.

Do you have a link for the batteries you got? I know Amazon has a set of two "2200 mah" batteries for like $9 which have pretty decent reviews. I'm looking for a set to put in my new grip and I'm not paying $40 for the Canon one.

The ones I bought do have dual safety fuses and have a 2 year warranty. Mine are 2000mh not 3000mh that was a typo. They are the Opteka BP511. I saw the ones you are talking about, they don't mention safety fuses or anything like that... it might be a gamble.
