I played it during the free weekend on Steam and ended up buying it. After playing the Battlefield series exclusively since the release of BF2 it was a nice change of pace.

I thought about buying Black Ops when it was on sale for the first week of release on newegg - it was around $40. I decided to wait it out.

Then I tried playing the COD BO free weekend. I played that garbage for 13 hours to finally classify it as pure garbage.

I wouldn't buy it, unless you actually have tried it out before (console, friend's house, whatever). It's a really bad game IMO.

50% off retail is pretty good, considering Activision's strict release price pricing.

The single player is far above anything that was released in 2010 (maybe besides Metro 2033) so I'd say it's worth it.

Buying Black Ops was one of the worst choices of my life. Absolutely horrible game.

How is Black Ops different from Call of Duty 4 in terms of the multiplayer? They feel exactly the same to me.

From a review...
Quote:
However, I think Black Ops has to be commended for its iron sights. These were horrible to use in the predecessors, but most of the Black Ops guns can be used very happily with no attached scope.
I don't have a problem using the iron sights in COD4.
After playing the Black Ops weekend, I paid $15 for Modern Warfare and love it. I was hoping it was Black Ops for cheap and it is.

I'll buy Black Ops when it includes all the DLC. As of now it is on par with Duke Nukem Forever for worst purchase for your money.
