Load is stable, but 0x00000124 bsod at idle?

Thread Starter
I'm running 4.6 ghz at the automatic voltage settings. I just did a 12 hour prime95 blend torture test and passed just fine. So I turn off prime95 and I'm doing standard low cpu stuff for an hour - web pages, e-mail, etc. Suddenly out of nowhere I get a 0x00000124 BSOD.

The pages about the 124 are vague and basically say there's some sort of hardware failure. Others more specifically say the vcore may be too low.

But how would I pass 12 hours of load with prime95 just fine, and then when I'm just sitting around barely using the CPU it BSODs?

Could it be speedstep somehow? Like my CPU is no longer stable at the 1.6ghz speedstep mode? What could be the problem here?

I am no expert when it comes to Intel but if it passed a 12 Hour Stress Test you should be good to go

Disable Speed Step if you havent and maybe increase Voltage a Tad just for safety

EDIT
Turn Automatic Voltage off and set the voltage so the Overclock is stable

Because when at idle the CPU might lower the voltage to save power and possibly making it unstable

But Im not sure

Disable C3 and C6 states and you should be good to go. By leaving C1 enabled you will still downclock when not at load, but not crash now.
