I like AMD features, like forcing AA onto games but when drivers are first released for a new series of cards AMD is lacking. When I bought a HD 2600 the card would always get stuck in 2D clocks, when I bought a 5770 when it was first released my screen would randomly go completely grey. After 5 months AMD drivers begin to become decent. When I bought a GTX 470 when it was first released I didn't have any driver issues.

Not saying nVidia never had driver issues(drivers that disabled their fans causing GPUs to burn) but ATi/AMD have them very often when they release their new generation of cards.

It's funny how everyone states that it's just a die shrink with no increases in performance... oxymoron in itself.

The die shrink would lower heat output and power consumption allowing for higher clocks and therefor, increase performance.

Hi Guys
Do you think AMD Boards are more optimised for AMD GPU or it doesn't really matter if it amd or nvidia???

I thought most of the time it was the transistors that shrunk so you could put more of them on a die yet still keep it the same size?

shrinking node would make the die smaller if no other transistors would be added ...

and that's what people dont take into account into their argument that it should be cheaper for us after each new generation etc....

+ the R&D for the smaller transistors ....

so in short .. yes just shrinking a known design without doing anything else would effectively reduce the die size ... but they always introduce new things to the architecture or tweak things in and there .
