win 7 compatible wireless adapter (prefer usb)

Thread Starter
Any recommendations? I have a linksys cisco e1200 router, if that helps.

Router is in my room, the computer that i want to connect it to is about 30-40 feet away down a hall and in another room (but lots of walls in between, but i have a wireless g router on another computer in that room that works fine).

it's a xeon processor, don't know if that affects anything. (i don't really want to open the computer and install a wireless card so thats why i prefer something i can plug in and use)

Pretty much 99% of standard Wireless G or N USB Adapters will work flawlessly. Whether its Windows 7, a Xeon CPU or your PSU is powered by magic fairy pixies.

The wireless networking market has standardized quite a lot in the past 5 years.

Ideally you'd want to look for a wireless-N USB adapter as this will yield a stronger signal compared to a wireless-G adapter. Your router is wireless-N so you will be able to benefit from the better signal.

If it means anything.. don't get a Linksys Wireless G WUSB54GS or something named like that.. specially if you're planning to go 64bit.

Wireless adapter I run.

It's cheap, I never lose connection, I'm on 64-bit.

This is the one I use.

Works flawlessly and has a great signal, don't take my word for it though, it's the best selling and best reviewed wireless adapter on Newegg.
