Just tell them that you can fix the CURRENT problem, but any new problems will COST to fix.
IE: No, you can't call me on the phone at 4AM because you just found a new problem, without PAYING me for it.

This is why I fix stuff for free in the normal hours.
I get LOTS of free beer, and I never get called during odd hours.
People know I am doing it as a favor, and because I like computers.

If this is your main source of an income, don't let it be. It's hard competing with other people who do this.

I do it off the side, and I can make about $90-200 a week. Though sometimes I go for weeks without repairing things.

I'm not just going to fix computers, but other things as well, like ipods and iphones and such.

Apple stores fix them, and replace them, most of the time for free... how would you compete with that? confused.gif

Ha it's generally more pain than gain, but if you enjoy it then you can make some money off of it.

Most computer problems do take quite some time to fix, so make it worth your time. If it's something that's over your head or you know is going to take quite the amount of time don't bother, these are not personal projects.

I wouldn't really get into fixing anything else as your going to end up voiding warranty's or flat out rigging. Some things are so cheap now people just would prefer to go buy new.

You are probably gonna need to find some other form of income as having something on the side is sporadic even as a supplementary income so maybe find some other side jobs.

Give them a email not a number. People pay you a few dollars and expect all day tech support. They will call you with any little problem, I try to make it so they don't really have to go come back bad business but if it lasts months - years they will gladly be reoccurring. If I miss something I obviously fix it for free aka not fully clearing some of the particularly nasty kinds of malware but don't be conned or scammed especially on facebook *herp derp* Craigslist.
