This is not just "nice features". You cannot just add these features in. The HD7xxx will be based on a 9 year old architecture around VLIW. GCN is complete redesign that will not be appearing for 2-3 years.

Oooh, I really like the thread level parallelism. I wonder if that would work similar to how a processor does? Would that, in theory, cause the same issue of lack of multi-threaded designed games much like how the CPU is unused in non-multithreaded games?

Like, if, say, TF2 uses 256 threads, would AMDs 512 core design (considering each core is a parallel of smaller ones, so like 512x7 or something), would that effectively make the extra threads nearly useless?

I'm really interested to see what Nvidia has to offer for the future. They're promising huge performance increases in the future (of course), but I'm interested to see how they'll achieve that.

As for AMD, this looks like it will be huge. Combining these new changes that add more compute power, the shift to greater graphics processing power with fusion, and Microsoft's C++ AMP that will allow for GPGPU utilization, I think the world of computing is heading in a good direction.
