I concur, I used own a Boomslang until I replaced it with a G7 which has served me for a really long time until the Mamba came out. I mean, the rubber were starting to peel of, the cap to hold the ball broke off, and the wheel became misaligned.
I used to own the Mamba since release of the G700. The Mamba and like many Razer products have really cool features and style, but the quality is the one thing that's lacking. Even the rubber sticker was about to come off like what the OP has encountered.
OP, if you are looking for a new mice, I would suggest looking at the G700 as a replacement. Its a really nice mice, it doesnt have any rubber grip except on the scroll wheel due to the body's textured surface as the grip which is more durable. Plus, if something does go wrong, Logitech's longer and better warranty is a big plus.
I mean, I still have my retired G7 with a loose wheel and its going to be replaced by a G700.
