i5 2500k Build for under $800

Thread Starter
So I'm building a computer for a friend. Us college kids try to save money but yet we want the technology. Computers going to be used for gaming, mainly SC2 on high settings. Here is what I've come up with:

SILVERSTONE Precision Series PS06B-W $101 - 10
Intel i5 2500K $192
MSI P67A-G45(B3) $145 - 20
(2)Corsair CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance 4GB $100 - 40
Corsair 650TX V1 $80 - 15
6870 GPU $190

Numbers next to the price are MIRs. Still deciding on card.

Help me out guys =p
I know 8Gbs might be overkill but can't beat 8gb ram for 60 bucks after MIR.

Don't do it. Go with the 6870. You won't be unhappy

The HD6870 and GTX560ti are pretty similar performance wise, just get the cheapest one.

Get a Better quality, lower wattage, modular PSU. You don't need 650w.

$100:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-093-_-Product

Its 80 plus Bronze rated.

The GD55 will probably have more accessories, one being an SLI Bridge included. The G45 doesn't come with one. You're getting a Radeon card though, so not really an issue. Other differences is number of SATA and eSATA ports...so not much difference really.

You're still paying the up-front price for the HX. Even this cheaper modular design would do:
XFX P1-650X-CAH9 650W

...it's built by Seasonic. But you honestly don't need 650W unit. It'll make more sense for one if you plan to crossfire the 6870.
