Overclocking my E8400 :D

Gday guys these are my specs, what do you think i should be able to achieve?

You won't go very far with that at all.

Three reasons for this:

1: Your RAM is slow. That RAM is probably running at it's maximum, so if you increase the FSB, you will increase the RAM speed.

2: 1.3v for only 3.6ghz? My old E8400 did 3.6ghz with 1.19V and 4ghz with 1.32V. Either your CPU is a bad clocker, or you don't know what you're doing.

3: Your motherboard is a piece of crap with a an even crappier chipset (G31). You're lucky it got to 3.6ghz in the first place. Don't expect more than the current 400mhz FSB on that.

Sorry, but it's the truth.

Basically this.

I've told you can't go any further. Does that not answer your question, or you simply read?

Get a better motherboard and RAM, or just leave it alone.

Unfortunately you can't. You asked if you could go further, I told you can't. Read my reply.

And it's really a shame to have such a nice CPU on an appalling motherboard and RAM.

I disagree you saying he can't go further... the OP could always try to go further and see what happens.

Though I agree there almost guarenteed won't be any headroom left.

And thought my 460 looked ugly on my g31...
1st are you sure that the system is stable? I mean 3.6 on an e8400, let alone an E0, is easy run maxmemm or memtest 86.
i am in the same boat as you, i have a capable cpu (oc wise), but my ram hold me back so i had to underclock them to 655 so i can get 3.5ghz.
