Switching motherboards need some advice

Thread Starter
Hey im switching motherboards from my current sig rig motherboard to an Asus Crosshair IV. Been reading through forum, looks like I do not need to reinstall windows as many have reported it went smoothly without.

Do i just uninstall all the drivers for my hardware and reinstall them again after the motherboard change? What would be the best program to do this? Or is it just a case of going into device manager and uninstalling everything.

I will be switching from 700 series chipset to 890, will this method still be ok?

You will be fine just uninstalling everything and then reinstalling all the drivers after you have installed the new motherboard I would even uninstall all of the graphics drivers, everything - use something like Driver Sweeper (free) in safe mode, and then uninstall any other hardware that it may have missed. I did that a few times for different builds and everything worked perfectly

- Good luck and enjoy the new board!

I just changed my mobo yesterday. Uninstall ethernet and sound driver. Upon starting it w/ the new board just insert the asus cd when asked. The only thing that it didn't automatically install in my case was the sound driver. Just google it. If you don't install the sound driver, though, you will have an annoying hissing sound in the background.
