I think that shows the source engine is capable of the aforementioned environment destruction as well. Sure, according to the dev commentary it was a helluva lot of work, but who says they can't adapt the engine to be more "dev-friendly"?
You're absolutely right! I forgot about that. I was impressed when I saw that. I think, though, that all those panels were simply independent pieces (like tables/other objects in Source) that were just flying around. It wasn't really one structure as a whole like the concrete buildings in BC2.
