6950 TFIII or 6970 Lightning or AM cooling - Page 2

I cant help but wonder what it is (aside from stress testing) that is making that thing run so hot AND is running slow enough you wanna xfire? I mean that's kinda a really high end card --- can't it do 1080p everything on all the time forever?

Also, I often run my fan at 85-100% even at idle because I like to keep things cool --- I assume your temps are only high under load but having a lower starting temp (because fans maxed) might impact the ending temp if you are only getting mega high temps are hours of gaming / stress testing~

Just some random semi disjointed thoughts I was having~

I have no idea why the card runs so hot, with fan set at 100% manualy on stock clocks and shader unlock idles at 40c, games sit @ 75-80c which is not that hot, but when others are at the same temp on 40% or less fan gives me a headache.

Asfar as the xfire, I am pretty happy with the cards performance, but if I dont buy the second now will I be able to find it in 6-8 months when I ned the boost of xfire?

I agree I think xfire is pointless if your already going for a high end card. I run two 1080p's off mine and can run every game going on max, with all anti alais on etc.

But I know about the heat issues...The reference coolers are ****e.
