Mouse pad for MX-518 (Optical)

Thread Starter
I got the MX-518 from a friend a few days ago and am using a plasticy Compaq mousepad which I'm sure isn't the great for it. What's a mouse pad that will help it track the best? I'm new to PC gaming so I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to peripherals (the actual building isn't new to me).

I'm no expert, but I'm using a SteelSeries QcK cloth pad with my MX518 and it seems to be working just fine.

Qck+ here. It's super smooth and tracks very well. You can't go wrong with it. If you don't need a HUGE mousepad, go for the mini. The QcK+ is like the size of3 mousepads.

I've never used a Qck, but I do like my Puretrak Talent.

Most people prefer softpads for optical mice

cheap: QCK, artisan hien value edition

expensive: zowie g-tf/p-tf or puretrak talent
post #7 of 10
Sargas 460 is also considered a cheap good soft pad

I wouldnt trade my Razer pro solutions for anything! I used it with the MX518 for a couple years, then upgraded to the G500.

I've used (and still currently am using) a Steelseries QCK Heavy with my 518, but also have tried it with a Ratpadz as well. The best I've used is a Steelseries Experience I-2: a frosted glass pad. I have a blue one at home that is for the G500, and the 518 (at work) is getting a pink one (cheapest I could find, and I don't care about color), since the QCK is gunking up/wearing out, and has been in use since 2006. I've had the Experience pad at home for nearly a year, and it has been flawless; easy to clean, easy to work on. It's a little noisy, but no worse than a hard plastic pad. Finding one is a little tough.
